{"id":757,"date":"2005-04-19T23:18:55","date_gmt":"2005-04-20T03:18:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/000af36.netsolhost.com\/wordpress1\/2005\/04\/19\/delay_deranged\/"},"modified":"2005-04-19T23:18:55","modified_gmt":"2005-04-20T03:18:55","slug":"delay_deranged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/griendling.com\/wordpress1\/2005\/04\/19\/delay_deranged\/","title":{"rendered":"DeLay Deranged"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This guy is getting <a href=\"http:\/\/story.news.yahoo.com\/news?tmpl=story&#038;cid=536&#038;e=5&#038;u=\/ap\/20050420\/ap_on_go_co\/delay_judges\">loopier by the minute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>House Majority Leader Tom DeLay intensified his criticism of the federal courts on Tuesday, singling out Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy&#8217;s work from the bench as &#8220;incredibly outrageous&#8221; because he has relied on international law and done research on the Internet. <\/p>\n<p>DeLay also said he thought there were a &#8220;lot of Republican-appointed judges that are judicial activists.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The No. 2 Republican in the House has openly criticized the federal courts since they refused to order the reinsertion of Terri Schiavo&#8217;s feeding tube. And he pointed to Kennedy as an example of Republican members of the Supreme Court who were activist and isolated. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Absolutely. We&#8217;ve got Justice Kennedy writing decisions based upon international law, not the Constitution of the United States? That&#8217;s just outrageous,&#8221; DeLay told Fox News Radio. &#8220;And not only that, but he said in session that he does his own research on the Internet? That is just incredibly outrageous.&#8221; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yeah.  He should have just consulted the Bible.  No, wait, that, too, would have been his \u201cown research.\u201d  I meant Kennedy should have let DeLay do the Bible research.  That way Kennedy wouldn\u2019t have to cloud his thinking with nuance.  A short pithy interpretation is all that\u2019s needed.  Those damn court opinions have gotten too long.
