I guess that\u2019s what Christ would have done, don\u2019t you think?  <\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been criticized before about my lack of patience with the American Taliban.  Folks say I\u2019m anti-Christian.  But when such a supposedly mainstream, highly respected leader of Christianity like Robertson says things like this, what am I to believe?  Christianity has been hijacked by the right-wing nuts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20050823\/ap_on_re_la_am_ca\/robertson_assassination\">Chavez has responded<\/a> by saying such remarks will test Bush\u2019s anti-terrorism policy.  <\/p>\n<p>Or does it just apply to Muslims?<\/p>\n<p>The stupidity of Robertson\u2019s remarks is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/time\/world\/article\/0,8599,1097267,00.html \">evidenced by the opinion<\/a> that he just played into Chavez\u2019s hand.  Certainly, his reputation will improve in Latin America if people believe the U.S. wants to assassinate him.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[L]eftism is on the rise again in Latin America for a reason, namely the burgeoning feeling around the region that a decade of U.S.-backed capitalist reforms has simply widened an already epic gap between rich and poor\u2014and that the Bush Administration is indifferent to it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I guess the South Americans are a little smarter than U.S. voters.
