{"id":555,"date":"2006-06-22T00:10:25","date_gmt":"2006-06-22T04:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/000af36.netsolhost.com\/wordpress1\/2006\/06\/22\/oops\/"},"modified":"2006-06-22T00:10:25","modified_gmt":"2006-06-22T04:10:25","slug":"oops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/griendling.com\/wordpress1\/2006\/06\/22\/oops\/","title":{"rendered":"Oops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Looks like the Greensboro News-Record reported who thought she spoke <a href=\"http:\/\/commonwealthcommonsense.typepad.com\/commonwealthcommonsense\/2006\/06\/liberal_press.html\">for all Greensboro<\/a> when she told Secretary of State Condolezza Rice, \u201cWe love you\u201d didn\u2019t speak for, well, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.news-record.com\/staff\/jrblog\/archives\/2006\/06\/the_washington.html\">her editor, for one<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Nancy&#8217;s closing comment to Rice &#8212; &#8220;We love you here in Greensboro&#8221; &#8211;was inappropriate, to say the least, and she shouldn&#8217;t have said it. She knows it, too. She told me that her mouth outran her brain and that she intended to convey respect for Rice&#8217;s accomplishments. Didn&#8217;t come out that way. And while it wasn&#8217;t meant as a political endorsement, I can see how it will be read that way.
