{"id":1732,"date":"2009-10-15T18:33:57","date_gmt":"2009-10-15T22:33:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/000af36.netsolhost.com\/wordpress1\/2009\/10\/15\/boy-in-a-balloon-2\/"},"modified":"2009-10-15T18:33:57","modified_gmt":"2009-10-15T22:33:57","slug":"boy-in-a-balloon-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/griendling.com\/wordpress1\/2009\/10\/15\/boy-in-a-balloon-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Boy in a Balloon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oh will there be <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20091015\/ap_on_re_us\/us_boy_in_balloon\" target=\"_blank\">some \u2018splainin\u2019 to do<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/commonwealthcommonsense.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d83420265153ef0120a5ea59f1970b-pi\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"boy in balloon\" border=\"0\" alt=\"boy in balloon\" src=\"http:\/\/commonwealthcommonsense.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d83420265153ef0120a5ea59f5970b-pi\" width=\"244\" height=\"126\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>UPDATE:&#160; This could turn tragic.&#160; The balloon has landed\u2026<a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20091015\/ap_on_re_us\/us_boy_in_balloon\" target=\"_blank\">and no boy is aboard<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE 2: MSNBC is reporting that KUSA-TV in Denver is reporting that the boy has been found\u2026alive\u2026.in his house.&#160; If true, this is good news \u2013 for all of us.&#160; For the cops and the family, there are questions.&#160; A police sheriff is saying that the boy was in a box \u2013 but not in the balloon, but one in the attic of his family\u2019s garage.&#160; It was the boy\u2019s brother who told police the boy had climbed in the box attached to the balloon before it took off.&#160; There is a question whether there ever was a box attached to the balloon.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone is speculating why the 6-year old kid was hiding.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>Now MSNBC is dragging this story out.&#160; A woman who switched places with his mother for a reality show said the kid was \u201ca prankster.\u201d&#160; But she speculates that the kid was probably hiding not to fool somebody, but because his father would kill him when dad finds out he let the balloon take off.<\/p>\n<p>Now Ed Schultz, who often is enough to turn me conservative, keeps trying to make this story about what bad parents the boy has.&#160; He\u2019s exploring lines with this woman whether the father cooked this up as a publicity stunt, or that he was a bad parent because he let the 6-year old swear and fart in the house.&#160; Or that they are a weird family because they are storm chasers and believe in extra-terrestrial life.<\/p>\n<p>If you think this was a simple mistake by the kids launching the balloon and a story with a happy ending, think again.&#160; MSNBC is not content.&#160; They want to embarrass the family.<\/p>\n<p>Arian Huffington is now the guest, and she asks \u201cwhy are we still talking about it?\u201d&#160; She and Schultz are arguing about it.&#160; He is now touting that MSNBC has the biggest interview of the day.&#160; She is making my point and Schultz is getting angrier.&#160; She calmly tells him, now that the boy is safe, we need to move on.&#160; He relents.<\/p>\n<p>So, move along, folks.&#160; Nothing to see here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oh will there be some \u2018splainin\u2019 to do!
