{"id":1605,"date":"2011-01-27T21:19:38","date_gmt":"2011-01-28T02:19:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/000af36.netsolhost.com\/wordpress1\/2011\/01\/27\/no-snow-plowing-in-nyc-is-a-snow-job\/"},"modified":"2011-01-27T21:19:38","modified_gmt":"2011-01-28T02:19:38","slug":"no-snow-plowing-in-nyc-is-a-snow-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/griendling.com\/wordpress1\/2011\/01\/27\/no-snow-plowing-in-nyc-is-a-snow-job\/","title":{"rendered":"No Snow Plowing in NYC is a Snow Job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Even those of us who don\u2019t live in New York City and have enough snow problems of our own have heard the story: City sanitation workers in the Big Apple supposedly were ordered to slow down plowing after the December 26 blizzard as retribution to the mayor for job reductions.<\/p>\n<p>The charge was made by a single city councilman, a union hating Tea Party nut.&#160; And I\u2019m not talking about being a Tea party nut but a Tea Partier who is a nut in other ways.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>For many New Yorkers, it was the first they had heard of Mr. Halloran, 39, a lawyer from Whitestone who has had a colorful first year in office. <\/p>\n<p>During his 2009 campaign, his faith was briefly an issue. He is an adherent of Theodism, a neo-pagan faith that draws from pre-Christian tribal religions of northern Europe, and he led a branch in the New York area.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The city is investigating and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2011\/01\/26\/nyregion\/26snowman.html?_r=2&amp;hp=&amp;pagewanted=all#h[]\" target=\"_blank\">the New York Times has the story<\/a> that there seems to be little evidence that it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cjr.org\/the_audit\/the_nyt_melts_the_rights_anti-.php?page=1\" target=\"_blank\">an even better read is Ryan Chittum of CJR\u2019s The Audit deconstructing <\/a>how the mainstream media, especially CNN, the Washington Times and of course, FOX News used the story to enhance the \u201clabor unions are killing America\u201d meme.
