{"id":1567,"date":"2004-02-20T12:53:57","date_gmt":"2004-02-20T17:53:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/000af36.netsolhost.com\/wordpress1\/2004\/02\/20\/is_bush_a_talki\/"},"modified":"2004-02-20T12:53:57","modified_gmt":"2004-02-20T17:53:57","slug":"is_bush_a_talki","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/griendling.com\/wordpress1\/2004\/02\/20\/is_bush_a_talki\/","title":{"rendered":"Is Bush a Talking Dog Or a Chicken?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/articles\/A56111-2004Feb19.html\">story<\/a> today in The Washington Post about the planned Bush campaign of ads trashing John Kerry, we learn that two of the entities preparing the mud fest will be a company that brought us the Taco Bell talking dog and the writer of Kentucky Fried Chicken ads.<\/p>\n<p>One thrust will be that Kerry is beholden to special interests.  The campaign leaders see no hypocrisy.  From The Post:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Acknowledging that Bush has received major financial support from corporations, McKinnon said: &#8220;The issue is hypocrisy in saying you&#8217;re going to take on the special interests, not who took the most special interest money. You don&#8217;t hear the president in the Oval Office railing against the special interests. You do hear John Kerry railing against the special interests.&#8221; The campaign has previewed this theme in an online video calling Kerry &#8220;unprincipled&#8221; and &#8220;brought to you by the special interests.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So being beholden to special interests is OK; saying you\u2019re not when you are is.  Fair enough.
