I attended a meeting of a Loudoun County school group a few months ago where he let school advocates know that he would favor a \u00bd-cent increase in the sales tax.  Now, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.winchesterstar.com\/TheWinchesterStar\/040413\/Business_MAy.asp  \">he opposes it<\/a>.  Do we really want for Lt. Gov. a man who can\u2019t keep his word?<\/p>\n<p>The Hampton Roads Daily Press has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailypress.com\/news\/opinion\/dp-92411sy0apr13,0,5676245.story?coll=dp-opinion-editorials\">great editorial<\/a> today pointing out that even the anti-tax zealots are conceding that the growth in the state budget over the last several years was in the non-general fund, which is for the most part mandated, and now point to the growth during the \u201cdot-com bubble.\u201d  Guess who was governor then?  <\/p>\n<p>The Virginian Pilot <a href=\"http:\/\/home.hamptonroads.com\/stories\/story.cfm?story=68863&#038;ran=239821 \">says<\/a> the House bill shouldn\u2019t be \u201cthe final word.\u201d  Amen.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Gibson at the Charlottesville Daily Progress <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailyprogress.com\/servlet\/Satellite?pagename=CDP%2FMGArticle%2FCDP_BasicArticle&#038;c=MGArticle&#038;cid=1031774814072&#038;path=!news!columns \">points out<\/a> the disingenuous poll by Del. Rob Bell (R-Albemarle County).<\/p>\n<p>Even the New York Times <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2004\/04\/09\/opinion\/09FRI2.html \">editorial page<\/a> is weighing in on the Commonwealth&#8217;s budget impasse.<\/p>\n<p>Charlottesville police <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesdispatch.com\/servlet\/Satellite?pagename=RTD%2FMGArticle%2FRTD_BasicArticle&#038;c=MGArticle&#038;cid=1031774845073&#038;path=%21news&#038;s=1045855934842 \">are asked<\/a> to &#8220;cease your practice of detaining African-American men practically at random&#8221; for DNA testing.  One woman <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailyprogress.com\/servlet\/Satellite?pagename=CDP%2FMGArticle%2FCDP_BasicArticle&#038;c=MGArticle&#038;cid=1031774843097&#038;path=!frontpage \">asked police<\/a> if they \u201cwould undergo widespread testing of white men if the rapist were white.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christian college <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesdispatch.com\/servlet\/Satellite?pagename=RTD%2FMGArticle%2FRTD_BasicArticle&#038;c=MGArticle&#038;cid=1031774842461&#038;path=%21news&#038;s=1045855934842 \">acting like anything but<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The Inspector General position that Warner <a href=\"http:\/\/search.roanoke.com\/dtSearch\/dtisapi6.dll?cmd=getdoc&#038;DocId=496&#038;Index=C%3a%5cProgram%20Files%5cdtSearch%20Developer%5cUserData%5cRoanoke%2ecom&#038;HitCount=12&#038;hits=4+5+d+e+34+35+c3+c4+e8+e9+104+105+&#038;SearchForm=C%3a%5cInetpub%5csearch%2eroanoke%2ecom%5cindex%5fform%2ehtml  \">plans to sign on<\/a> to will cost taxpayers $500,000 a year.
